We fill up our green waste bins, put them out and they’re collected. Sounds simple however what happens to all that green waste?

Well, it ends up in large piles in places like Peats Soils.

Peats Soils in Brinkley, around 15 kilometres south west of Murray Bridge is a state of the art composting facility which is turning green waste into green gold.

Managing Director, Peter Wadewitz has been a driving force in the Australian composting industry for over 40 years and is passionate about the need for us all to appreciate the untold environmental and economic benefits compost can provide.

Peter’s interest in mulch started some 45 years ago when he started collecting bark offcuts for timber yards on the weekends with his shovel and trailer.

From there, he started supplying a landscaper, then 2 then 3 then so on. Then he started collecting compost and made potting mix from his Dad’s nursery in Plympton. He would bag it up into clear bags. The name “Peats Soil” came about when one of the staff suggested that it had peat in it, and Pete made it so why don’t you call it Peats Soil? So Peter used to staple a piece of cardboard to the top of the bag and write “Peats Soil” across it.

Today Peats Soil & Garden Supplies have 3 depots and compost all sorts of green organics, sludge, manures and greenwaste. Peats and BiobiN®, are now gradually expanding globally.
