The latest Alisa and Lysandra to the Rescue Prime Time Special on Channel 9 showed what can be achieved to help a deserving family when South Australians comes together.

Four days to completely renovate Lauren, Tom and young Freddie’s house and garden was a phenomenal effort.

Armed with a design from landscape architect firm Aspect, Rennie Mazzone and his Exotic Gardens crew took to the task of transforming the backyard into a show piece.
Turning a sloping block into a two tiered garden in such a short time, needed some big machines ……and plenty of people, including the odd familiar face. (Kim)

A new deck, Large rock edging, plenty of plants from Heynes Wholesale Nursery, Lawn & irrigation, special garden features, garden lighting, and an emotional reveal for Lauren, Tom & Freddie showed all that effort was well worth it.

So, how does the rescue house garden look 5 months on?

I’m still amazed by how wonderful this garden looks compared to how it was originally.

Everything is growing and looking fantastic. That’s a big tick.
The tee-pee looks like it’s been well played in by Freddie.
The cottonwoods, are starting to screen off the back fence. A bit of trimming will keep these in check. Good job for Tom!

The lawn is lush and green, thanks to regular feeding and watering. An automatic watering system that does the grass and the garden is definitely a time and plant saver.

This side fence has a two tier screen with Capital pears supplying an upper canopy and a brand new variety of magnolia a lower screen.
This is called Princess Magnolia and as you can see has beautiful creamy white and blush pink blooms that flower from spring to autumn. And the fragrance is exquisite.

Selected for their quick, tidy growth habit both the Princess Cinderella and the new Princess Cleopatra are available from your local garden centre.

Anyone who has ever built or even contemplated building steps will be awe inspired by these. Given they were built by one guy, Peter from Exotic Gardens, over 3 days. In my opinion, they are a work of art and a key feature of this garden.

Little touches like the Blueberry Vitality plants dotted along the rock wall edging adds yet another interesting flavor to this garden.

What we have here is not just a stunning garden but a testament to what can be achieved when called upon. Congratulations to all who were involved. This is a garden that will be lived, loved and laughed in for many years to come.

Wow. What a glorious yard.
