With glorious weather encouraging us to open the front door and get out and about, we are always looking for new places to explore – right. Well, I’ve found somewhere you may not automatically think of spending a morning or afternoon strolling about, however you’ll be very surprised how much life there really is to discover when you visit. Centennial Park in Pasadena is 40 hectares rich in history and a kaleidoscope of colour, fragrance and floral inspired gardens. The park is comprised of over 30 beautiful memorial themed gardens, each with their own unique personality that vary from traditional to contemporary styles. Here are afew: Queen Adelaide Walk Presenting a mixture of a rustic yet traditional backdrop, this pristine location offers the choice of striking standard or bush roses in a multitude of colours or contemporary timber uprights. Plentiful shade is provided from the vast native gums, and the Gladicia trees that line the pictorial Queen Adelaide Walk. Medika Resembling a flourishing tropical setting in the midst of white custard apple trees, and a selection of palms, this garden provides a shaded and aromatically fresh environment all day and every season. Peace Court Peace Court is named after the Peace Rose, which has been voted the “world’s most favourite rose”, and was released on the 29th of April 1945, the day of the fall of Berlin in World War II. In the heart of spring the fluttering of butterflies encapsulates this traditional sandstone knot garden. Bountiful standard roses and weeping crab apples encircle the calming water feature. Springbank Island Reflective of a tropical paradise, filled with a variety of lush green foliage, Springbank Island is synonymous with those young at heart. Baby turtles, ducklings, birds and golden carp inhabit the island setting of the natural surroundings.
