There’s so much happening in your council area that you may not be aware of. Amid Adelaide’s local governments, the progressive City of West Torrens has some great news stories on big picture ventures and grassroots ideals that just need telling!

The fabulous City of West Torrens supported the Clifford Street Community Garden at Mile End – not just a place where plants grow but the local community as well. Team Leader of Community Developments at the City of West Torrens, Ros Edwards, explains that the community gardens have expanded from 9 raised gardens to 18 in only 6 months. The land was bequeathed by a local resident who wanted it to be used for the community. Available to residents to plant up, ages range from 3 to 80 years, all enjoying the enjoyment growing brings along with the camaraderie of spending time with other like-minded people. It’s wonderful to share knowledge.

On a larger scale, the City of West Torrens has been busy working on projects of a sustainable nature with great outcomes. Breakout Creek is one of those successes. Council Environmental Officer Amy Bruckman explains why.

It is great to find out what’s happening around our local government areas. There is certainly a lot to celebrate. For more information on the City of West Torrens and their diverse and innovative projects like Breakout Creek and the Clifford Street Community Garden, just head to their website.
