When it comes to getting the right painting job done, there are always a few tips that help out. STEP ONE When it comes to repainting outdoor timber surfaces, start by washing the area to remove any dust and dirt. STEP TWO Give the spot a light sand to remove any flaking paint and to allow the new coat to stick better. STEP THREE Fill any gaps using a quality flexible filler like Selleys No More Gaps Exterior & Weatherboard which you’ll find at your local Mitre 10. STEP FOUR Sand the filled area to level off. STEP FIVE Now the paint. Always use a quality outdoor paint. Dulux Weathershield is ideal. STEP SIX Moisten the brush in water if you are about to use a water-based paint and flick off any excess water. STEP SEVEN Next the paint. Dip the brush half way up the bristles. Tap it gently against the side of the can: don’t wipe the brush hard against the lip otherwise you are removing most of the paint from the brush. STEP EIGHT Apply paint to the area in long, even strokes. STEP NINE Remember to wash out the brush after you’ve finished. You can watch the video above for a visual guide.
