Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! Having a well-trained pet is vital in having a harmonious owner and pet relationship. Often the biggest hurdle in getting that training, is simply knowing where to start. The Animal Welfare League believes strongly in the human-animal bond and about enriching the lives of both animals and humans. One great way to develop this bond and to create memorable experiences for the life of your pet is to take part in training. The AWL conducts ‘Mutts with Manners’ Dog behaviour and training classes for people who have a puppy or adult dog. These classes are suitable for improving the relationship with both new or existing dog(s) in your family. Qualified instructors help new owners train their puppy or dog using reward-based techniques. We have found that positive reinforcement methods really work and help to build a positive relationship between owner and dog. We have lots of tips and fast facts to help you look after your pet and live happily with them. Whether it’s a barking dog, house training a kitten or general hints for your new puppy, we have plenty of information to help you.
