Deciduous Trees add a wow factor to the garden with their striking autumnal colours letting us know winter is on its way!

Heynes Wholesale Nursery has been growing plants on its Burton property for over 20 years. 5th Generation nurseryman, Carl Heyne, knows the best plants for South Aussie gardens!

Deciduous Trees add a wow factor to the garden with their striking autumnal colours letting us know winter is on its way. The brightest of these colours is yellow, and here are some trees that turn pure gold:

Acer campastre Elsrijk:
– Its narrow canopy means it’s great for squeezing into most mixed groves for varied autumn colour
– Small to medium sized
– Approximately 6m tall
– Perfect for pleaching
– Great for smaller landscaped areas and verge side planting
– Beautifully shaped leaves with a nice dark green tone
– Yellow autumn tones
– Highly adaptable to most climates and soil types

Ginkgo biloba (Maidenhair tree):
– Everyone knows this one
– You need a bit of space for one of these but you can’t get a more beautiful specimen

Populus simonii fastigiata (Simons Poplar):
– Being extremely narrow and upright, Simons Poplar makes the perfect grove or avenue planting
– 25m tall by 3m wide
– Fast growing
– Once again, highly visible golden yellow autumn colour

Gleditsia Continental:
– 8m tall x 5m wide
– Dark emerald green leaves turning brilliantly gold in autumn
– Used widely as a successful street and carpark tree
– A medium sized shade tree good for most sized gardens

Gleditsia Sunburst:
– An attractive and tough medium sized shade tree
– 7m tall x 7m wide
– Semi weeping habit and golden new foliage create a soft effect
